KDKM Community Projects

Our project: Turf removal conversion to xeriscape at 602 Bay Avenue

The KDKM Boulevard Beautification Project went amazingly! There was a great neighbourhood turnout – some stayed to help for the full 4 hours, others pitched in while they could in between children’s naps and work commitments, people donated the use of their trucks to move material and someone else provided the workers with a delicious lunch of homemade soup and bread.

It was so inspiring to see the neighbourhood come together like this and it’s pretty amazing to see what can be accomplished in such a short period of time with many hands! Stay tuned for before and after pictures in the Spring, 2016,

Here are just some of the hard workers who participated in the project!

Many thanks to the City of Kelowna Strong Neighbourhoods Grant:

Residents often know just what is needed to enhance the quality of life in their neighbourhoods. With this in mind, the City of Kelowna has partnered with the Central Okanagan Foundation to offer matching grants to support resident-led neighbourhood enhancement ideas or projects that empower neighbours to take action locally. These grants provide the opportunity for neighbours to build relationships, gain a greater sense of neighbourhood pride, and provide resources to address each neighbourhood’s unique interests and needs.
